Photography: Abandoned Spaces

There is something hauntingly beautiful about abandoned spaces. They have character and they tell stories of people long gone we will never know. They tell haunting tales of times long past we are fortunate not to be living in. They teach us history, they teach us about the generations that precede us and they also teach us about society both then and now.

Some of my favourite photography consists of series of abandoned places – the photo series on the abandoned theme parks and the stunning photography of abandoned mental asylums are definitely two of my big favourites.

Clearly I’m not the only one so fascinated by them or else we wouldn’t have so many lists compiling the “best of” abandonment compilations from around the world.

Love, love, love them. All of them.
