I Want To Go To: Huanglong, Sichuan in China

Browsing Pinterest has got to be my favourite way of procrastinating – it’s just that I find SO many pretty pictures and inspiring photos!

It’s on one of my many little Pinterest binge that I discovered the stone pools of a place called Huanglong in the Sichuan province of China – check out the gorgeous images below, how could you not want to see this place in real life?!

Due to thousands of years of geological evolution, Huanglong consists of numerous unique landscapes of geological landforms. Glacial revolution, terrane structure, stratum of carbonic acid rock, tufa water and climatic conditions such as Arctic-alpine sun light have created this world-famous travertine landscape.

What is a “travertine landscape” you ask?

Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. Travertine exists in white, tan, cream-colored, and even rusty varieties.
